If You're Happy And You Know It
Traditional

Lyrics:

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)

If you're happy and you know it, then you really oughtta show it

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)

If you're happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp)

If you're happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp)

If you're happy and you know it, then you really oughtta show it

If you're happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp)

If you're happy and you know it, say hooray! (hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, say hooray! (hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, then you really oughtta show it.

If you're happy and you know it, say hooray! (hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, do all three! (clap clap, stomp stomp, hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, do all three! (clap clap, stomp stomp, hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, then you really oughtta show it.

If you're happy and you know it, do all three! (clap clap, stomp stomp, hooray!)

Activities:

Direction Dance: Play the song and dance to the lyrics, doing the activity in each verse.

Make Up Movements: Sing the song without the CD (a cappella) and ask your child what else they like to do when they’re happy. For example, “If you're happy and you know it, do a wiggle!” or “jump up high” or give me a five...” take suggestions between verses unless a child yells it out or is modeling it already.

Instrument Recognition: Point out the bass guitar during the bass solo and pretend to play the “air bass.”
